The purpose of this article is to examine the sociodemographic behavior and pychiatric correlates for cruelty to animals in the United States. This article infroms us about how cruelty of animals is associated with elevated rates observed in young, poor, men with family histories of antisocial behavior and personal histories of conduct disorders in childhood, and antisocial, obsessive, compulsive personality disorders. This is relevant to my topic because it tells us a little bit about why people abuse animals.
